Both my friend's and my Grandma's birthdays fall around the same time in March.
Both have had celebrations planned for a long time
Both occured on the same night (tonight)
Sasha's a good friend, and being Phillipino and it being her 18th birthday, it's traditional to have a really big party, with 18 'candles' and 18 'roses'; people who all get to dance with her. Plus all her relatives who she hasn't seen for a while come down. And a free bar. And that sounded really fun. Posh, and fun. But set for the same night was my Grandma's celebration at a local pub/restaurant. And technically also my Dad's celebratory thing, and if we're being picky, mine too. And relatives who I hardly ever see come down. So the choice was family or friends?
I chose the former. And I took on the responsible role of being the designated driver. Which meant I obviously couldn't have a drink. (I spent most of the dinner worrying that I'd lost my iPod, and I think I actually may have done :s). Anyway that finished about half an hour ago, and I've just texted Laurence: 'Free bar. FREE BAR!' I take it I am missed. It's a shame because I now can't get a lift to the party as both my parents have had drinks, and my sister cannot drive (she's 15). If I drove myself, I wouldn't be able to have a drink, as I am a very law-abiding citizen at the moment, so laurences 'free bar' chants are the twist of the knife really.
Will have to make it up to Sasha. But how...?
Watch and download it here, and leave a comment if you liked it. There's talk of a sequel...
...of the outside world recently, so many of the major headlines I've found out through 20six. That's how I found out about that massive cash heist. So what's happening with 20six? I haven't the foggiest. And the sad thing is that many of the big names are leaving or have already left, moving to platform27 or ceasing blogging entirely. Nagnagnag for example. I'm sure he's stopped now after posting 'bye bye blog' as his last entry. Although it may be a cunning ploy to see how many people mourn his departure, and then he jumps out from behind a tree shouting 'Ha, fooled you'. Hmm, we'll see.
So what's been up with me lately?
On a scale of 1 to 10 of how good a wednesday at school could be, I would most definitely give today a thumbs up. Got a lift with Pat. Same old, same old, and picked up Laurence and Joe. Because of our 'Extra Dimension' project that we had to present today, laurence had his amp and his guitar with him. Wow that twas one mightily heavy box, and it brought the suspension of Pat's Fiesta down quite a way. At school, the common room was deserted. I was expecting hardly anyone to turn up, but only 10 people showing up, thats ridiculous
Form started, and Pete, being late as ever, turned up late, as ever. Nevertheless, I gave him and Joe an advance screening of our film, in which they both starred, and it was good. Funny good. The first presentation gave out free food. Now I'm not gonna say no to free food am I? When my presentation came along, I just slotted in the CD, clicked play and sat back. You know it's good when everyone laughs, no matter how cheesy the comedy looks.
The basic plot was that Pete, as the burglar, breaks in to a house, only to be disturbed by the homeowners, played by Joe and Monika. Filmed as a silent movie with all the trimmings - those slides with words and the creepy piano music - he ties Joe up, but Monika escapes as she's being tied up. The music changes to Queen, Dont stop me now, and the rest is just a chase sequence around my house. Fun to film. And the chase fits with the music, as I make it look like Pete flies when the lyrics change to 'defying the laws of gravity'. Pure geniouso.
Oh how that was a happy film, and we spent the next period discussing what we could do for a sequel. Eventually, I think the general consensus was a porno movie with Hollie and Pete in the starring roles, although, probably best if it never gets made hehehe. And the holy day meant we only had one period of work all day, as the mass broke the lesson up. I'm all for that.
Then back home I went out for a meal with my family. Mmm, two chicken breasts and a bacon steak. Was a good day. Plus I watched Prison Break. Wow, the best episode I've seen, and *possibly* one of the best shows I've seen in a long time, not being able to see the last three series of 24. Yay for TV.
8 minutes of my birthday left, and it turns out I am loved, although my first birthday well wisher wasn't until I woke up this morning. I even got my own rendition of Happy birthday both on an electric guitar during Laurence's presentation, and a general singalong in the common room.
Fun times that we live in, can't wait until the Saturday
I have been 18 now for well over 38 minutes and not one person has said 'Happy Birthday' to me. Oh well, I'm sure it's just because it's too early. I'm sure some people out there love me.
Anyway, I return to you, here, after my self-proclaimed haitus. The break's mainly been due to the amount of work I've had to do recently. Tis too much. Three weeks ago we were each told that we had to do a presentation to the class, lasting about five minutes. After much brain scratching and shit I finally decided to make a short film (after many rejections involving getting lots of people to sing the same song and edit it together, like Build me up buttercup at the end of SAomething about Mary) with Pete, Monika and Joe as the characters. As it was my presentation, I had the luxury of not having to show my face on camera, Instead, being behind it, and doing all the post-production.
I think it's turned out quite well, seems as I hadn't used the program that I did eventually use before a few days ago, and I got positive thumbs up reactions from all the people I showed the short, initial rough edit to today. So yay.
What's quite annoying though is that I know noone else would have gone to the same effort. But that's just me. And I liked making it so couldn't care less really. The filming was fun and we had a laugh. If tomorrow wasn't so important for our school, I might have considered not turning up - although it's quite obvious that loads of people will be missing. It's Ash Wednesday and combined with the fact that the school's having a suprise OFSTED inspection, all the teachers are a bit edgy, so I reckon it's best just to go in.
Plus it's my birthday, today, wednesday. And hopefully most people have grown out of giving beats - there'll obviously be the odd one that sees it pruddent to give me a few punches. Should be fun. And I'll wear a badge I got. It's not one of those mahoosive '18' ones, but I'll still wear it.
49 minutes and noone loves me
"When you're a famous boy it gets really easy to get girls
It's all so easy you get... spoilt
But when you to pull a girl who is also famous too
It feels just like when you wasn't famous"
Can't be too bothered to decipher any more
After watching the awards last night, I believe I should watch them again. Any objections? No. Okay then, that's settled.
